Dog Birthday Cake For My Fur Baby Fluffy

Fluffy's 11th Birthday Cake

Today Fluffy is 11 and I am going to make him a Dog Birthday Cake that you and your fur baby can both eat – made from peanut butter, carrots with a tasty peanut butter and yoghurt frosting.

Many of us have a beautiful fur baby at home – in 2020, 3 out of every 5 houses owns a pet dog and don’t they just make the best company.

As I said today is my little man Fluffy’s birthday and yes, I’m going to make him a dog birthday cake, he deserves it..

Now while I do want to spoil him, I also want to make sure the ingredients are safe and good for him to enjoy (and tasty to me to nick a piece too)

This year I am going to make him a peanut butter and carrot cake – yum right!

Please make sure when you are buying your peanut butter that you use unsalted, smooth peanut butter that does NOT contain Xylitol.  I also don’t use regular flour, I chose to use Almond Meal or you could use coconut flour – whichever is your preference.

Ingredients

Cake
2 eggs
¼ cup oil ( I used olive oil)
1/3 cup peanut butter (smooth, unsalted and NO Xylitol)
1/3 cup apple sauce
2 tbls honey
1 cup grated carrot
1 cup almond meal (coconut or wholegrain flour would be suitable too)
1 ½ tsp baking powder

Frosting
1 ½ cups Greek plain yoghurt
2 tbls peanut butter

Topping
¼ grated carrot

Method

Cake
1. Preheat oven 165° (fan forced)
2. Cake tin (greased and floured)
3. In a bowl add and mix till combined with an egg whisk or spatula
a. Eggs
b. Oil
c. Peanut butter
d. Apple sauce
e. Honey
4. Add in grated carrot to mixture – stir through with a spatula until combined
5. Add almond meal (or flour) and baking powder, stir through until mixed in to wet ingredients
6. Put batter into cake tin
7. Bake at 165° for 35-40 min (test with a toothpick or skewer at 30 mins to see if it comes ourt clean, if it does it is ready, if there is still cake mix on the toothpick give it 5 more minutes)
8. Cool on a cooling rack
9. Make frosting while cooling

Frosting
1. Combine yoghurt and peanut butter in a bowl using electric beaters till light and fluffy.
2. Once cake is cooled pop as much as you and your dog desire on the top of the cake.
3. Decorate with grated carrot
4. Enjoy

You and your little mate are going to love this and I think you might even get a bit of help to clean your spoon when you are decorating the cake from your fur baby.
