The Boathouse is a group of unique casual dining venues located at beautiful waterside locations around Sydney.
The first Boathouse was established in 2008 in Sydney’s Palm Beach and has now expanded to 8 other locations.
The theme is a casual Australian beachside experience so if you are looking for casual dining surrounded by water with spectacular views, we highly recommend the Boathouse for a day out, whether it is just dropping in for a cup of coffee, or to enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch. It’s also fully licensed so you can enjoy a glass of wine with lunch if you so desire.

We chose to visit the Boathouse for a casual weekday brunch at Sydney’s picturesque harbourside Balmoral Beach. It’s the perfect venue to meet with friends, take overseas visitors or just enjoy a quiet coffee on your own taking in the stunning view.
We both arrived by car as there is plenty of metered parking close by plus 2-hour free parking in some of the surrounding streets. In high summer parking can be a bit harder to find so allow time for this!
Keeping with the relaxed and casual atmosphere, the Boathouse doesn’t take bookings. On the day we went there were plenty of outdoor tables available and in busier times it’s only a short wait as people are coming and going all the time. High summer can be a little more challenging so be prepared for slightly longer waits for tables to become available.

Ordering is self-serve and the menu is up on the board at the counter. The staff are friendly and welcoming and only too happy to help with menu suggestions. We chose avocado, tomato and fetta on sourdough, bircher muesli and coffee.
The food was great. Very appetising to look at as well as tasting great. We also loved the cute signature anchor on our cappuccino which was in keeping with the Boathouse’s nautical theme. Our waitstaff were attentive, smiling and friendly and only too happy to take photos for us which we love!
